Mighty Mom

Bedtime conversation:
"Mama, do girls have muscles?"
"Yeah, of course they do!"
"Can I see yours??"
"Well, maybe tomorrow..."

....fast forward to tomorrow, which is now tonight...

Noah: "Mama, can I see your muscles?"
I obligingly flex.
Noah, open-mouthed: "Wow, you're really strong!"
"Yep!"
I relish this.  Probably too much.

The way to a Mom's heart...

I love that my boys are so excited about the start of Vacation Bible School tonight at church.
I love that my 7-year-old spent an hour making a card for some girls he would see there.
I love that my 9-year-old felt the need to change his clothes in preparation for the event (!!) - normally the filthy clothes he's been wearing for the past week are good enough for him.  He called them his "VBS shorts".  Then he wanted my help fastening a very manly looking cross necklace around his neck that he's worn one time - the day he got it about a year ago.
Yes, VBS is apparently a very big deal around here.
Even my 5-year-old is beside himself with excitement - as evidenced by his comment of, "Mama, maybe I should change my shirt too.  I don't think people want to see nosewipe all over it."
The finer points of making decent men - what mom can't accomplish, VBS will.

Compari-Sons

Certain 3-year-olds have a hard time staying in bed at night.  Even when consistently warned and duly disciplined upon coming out.

And certain 3-year-olds, upon the subdued return of their bunkmate to bed can be found laying nicely under their blanket sweetly singing "Jesus Loves Me".

I'm so thankful for those moments in my day that provide much-needed humor amidst frustration, and a reminder that this 3-year-old sweetness is all too brief.
